Anyways- life update. At the beginning of July, our 2 new hires started working. It puts me at 4th on the totem pole here at work. I just found out, another is leaving, definite, for sure...no ifs ands or buts about it. So now I am in essence 3rd ranking officer. How crazy is that. Cause trust me, I've done diddly- except whatever they tell me. And for some reason, I don't believe I deserve this wonderful seat of power. No not little ol' me, no sirree.
I'm debating whether or not to see the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I'm really partial to Gene Wilder.
Oh- and goodness we are all really in tune with ourselves when it comes to the Potter. It's funny I read everyone's comments to suzer's post, and I like how we all come to very similar conclusions. We are all very smart people.
The Long Awaited
Today at about 1 in the afternoon, I received the 6th Harry Potter book in the mail. At 10 pm this evening, I put the book down. I won't write anything about the story here. I had some worries about this book, considering its predecessor. But I was joyfully mistaken. I think it is quite possible that this may be my favorite book of the series, until which point the 7th book has made it's way into my hands. Then I suppose it is a tie between Chamber, Prisoner, and Goblet. I am going to stop myself before I start in on the plot.
Good evening to all.
Good evening to all.
Stupid Stupid
!!!!WARNING RANT AHEAD!!!!
I have a major problem with people and rain today. If you are to timid about driving in the rain in your big freakin' suv, DON'T FRIGGIN' DRIVE!!! You slow down the rest of us who are comfortable driving in rainy conditions. Don't tell me you know how to drive, because I was growing old behind you while you were doing 20 miles under the speed limit in a 45 mile per hour zone!!!! Yes, I know you should be careful driving in the rain. But it's one thing to be cautious and another to be a prude. You are, in effect, creating the hazardous conditions with your inability to drive.
off my soapbox.

London
After such a joyous day for London yesterday (the Olympics being held there in 2012), I am appalled by what has happened this morning. My heart goes out to those who have been affected, injured, and those families who have lost their dearest loved ones. At first listening I thought that maybe this event was going to happen to whichever city had won the Olympic bid, but I realize (because my brain goes all mushy when politics is concerned) this was timed with the beginning of the G8 summit. It is incomprehensible how something like this could occur when there is attempt being made to rectify global issues. But I suppose in the mind of those who plan such things, it is a perfect statement, illustrating that no matter what the good intentions of decent people there is nothing- I repeat- nothing, good people can do to stop them and the war they make. That it is impossible to change things, when they do not want them to be changed.
Somehow, what I had planned on writing today seems to trivial.

Vacation from my Vacation
have been back now for a day, so I guess it is time for a trip recap. I must preface this by saying I think this was the most hectic/crazy/exciting trip to Disney that I've been on in a while. I am sorry if this turns out to be long, but I have not yet mastered how to tag for a "cut".
Sunday morning we were supposed to get picked up at 5 in the morning to make our 6:45 flight. 5 am comes and there is no limo/taxi. In an amazing feat of vehicular prowess, my father manages to drive us to Newark in about 25 minutes. We then waited on line to check-in for 20 minutes, and then another 40 minutes to get through security. We literally run to the gate minutes and i mean minutes from them taxi-ing to the runway. Walking onto the plane, we get a call from...the limo driver. Silly guy thought it was 6 am. Oooooo. Anyways the plane flight was uneventful, and Disney even picked up our bags at the airport and shuttled us to the hotel. There we met up with the Slic/Sullivan crew. Walked to ESPN for some yummy eats. When that was over the Pic crew minus Joe arrived. We then headed over to MGM-Studios. We all went on Star Tours, the Great Movie Ride, and the Rockin' Rollercoaster. While everyone else headed to the Brown Derby for dinner, I walked to the Backlot Diner for some really expensive McDonald's. *I wasn't ready to have Brown Derby twice in 20 hours.* Tooo much food. Anyways I caught the tail end of the Star Wars weekends. It was interesting to watch people walking around all dressed up as jedis and stormtroopers and such.
Monday was I think....my favorite day. Everyone else got up early to have breakfast. I met up with them after breakfast to say good morning before I headed back to MGM for lunch at the Brown Derby with an Imagineer. Everyone else made their way to EPCOT. When I first checked in I received a special nametag/pin that is like the park employees pins, with my name on it. There were about 9 people altogether, including myself. The manager of the Brown Derby led us to the "Bamboo Room". It is a replica of the "Bamboo Room" that was part of the original Brown Derby in Hollywood. It was the place where the "most important" somebodies in Hollywood would gather for cocktails. A very nice intimate room. There I met Disney Imagineer Eric Goodman, a show producer. He started out at disney working as a tractor driver for the Indiana Jones show, then worked in the sound stages in MGM, and now he workd on the Disney photopass project and the Innoventions showcase in EPCOT. We sat down and even the menus were personalized. And what pray-tell did I have for lunch (which was absolutely out of this world)- tortilla and corn soup, the famous Cobb salad, a grilled New York Strip Steak, and to top it all off a Strawberry Creme-Brulee. Eric talked about what got him hooked to work at Disney, some of the new rides and attractions, also about some rides that didn't quite make it but some remnant is in the parks. He answered some of my really odd questions about Space Mountain and Journey into Imagination. Not really supposed to go into so much detail, I have no idea would read this and such. When dessert came out we sang Happy Birthday to the lady I was sitting next to, who looked nowhere near the 70 she was turning. Unfortunately, our time had run out, but before Eric left, he signed these beautiful plates. I really thought they would give us one of those silly plastic plates, but this really is a heavy duty ceramic specialty plate. Eric asked me what he should write on the plate for me. I jokingly said, I have nothing in particular, after paying for this meal, which is the worst part of the lunch...He said, "Oh yeah, thanks for paying for lunch everyone." The group laughed. So my plate says thanks for the wonderful meal. I made my way back to the Boardwalk and finished writing up my postcards. I also mailed them, so it isn't my fault if you haven't gotten them yet. It's all the US Postal Service's fault. The whole group went over to the Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner. Matt's friend Eddie also met up with us. After a second yummy meal, we wandered around the Beach Club and made our way back to the Boardwalk. Everyone, except my Dad, Matt and Eddie, went into JellyRolls. It is a bar with dueling pianos, that only play requests. My only problem was the cover charge of 8 bucks. But they guys who were rollin' out the tunes were amazing.
Tuesday everyone else went for breakfast at the Kona Cafe in the Polynesian Resort. (Do we see a trend that resa does not meet for breakfast?) Anyway, I meet up with everyone at the Magic Kingdom. In a matter of about 4 hours we hit Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, the Enchanted Tiki Room, Haunted Mansion, and the "refreshed" It's A Small World. On Splash, Matt, Chrissy and I squeezed ourself into the front row. Not a smart idea. We got sooo soaked because of all the weight. My fam and the Pic crew had lunch at the Big River Grille right before Joe arrived. We all did some serious napping before heading to Palio's restaurant in the Swan. We decided to Joe should go on some rides so we sped through EPCOT ooo-ing and ahhh-ing at Illuminations (9pm) towards the Monorail. Make our way to the Magic Kingdom, and before the park closed at just after 11, we made it on Splash, Big Thunder and Space Mountain again.
Wednesday was Mom's birthday- so she and Dad went on a Segway Tour and then to Animal Kingdom. Matt and I went on Mission Space early in the morning and then met up with the Pic's, Mr. Slic, and Sean for Test Track and Mission Space again. We then ran back to MGM, had lunch there. Sean, Matt and the Pic crew went on Rockin' rollercoaster and Tower of Terror, while myself and the rest of the Slic's went the see the new Extreme Stunt Car Show. Lots of fast driving, people on fire, stuff blowing up. Fun. After the show, the rain began. We all braved our way to get home. We all chilled out before getting ready for Mom's B-day dinner at the California Grille in the Contemporary Resort. Another amazing meal. Had some California rolls with amazing shredded crab. I gotta thank suzer for letting me try the rolls over spring break last year. They happen to be one of my new favorite meals. We also got to see the Wishes firework show from the top of the Contemporary. I love watching the fireworks from so high up.
Thursday we all spent doing something different. I, who managed to not get sunburned prior to Thursday morning, had a suntan lotion malfunction for the 3 hours the sun was out and I was at the pool. So now I don't feel like, or look like I managed to avoid the sun at all. My bro went to Norway, cause he loves Norway. Mom and Dad went early to get on Soarin' and then stopped at the pool with me. The Pic crew headed over to Animal Kingdom and the Slic's did some shopping. Since my sunburn had not yet manifested itself, I suggested we leave a little early to go to Downtown Disney. So we were off yet again. We did a little shopping and then met up with Joe's friend John for dinner at the Portobello Yacht Club. After dinner- those of us who were still standing- matt, joe, john, chrissy, and myself, walked over to Pleasure Island for an evening of pure...enebriation (spelling?). I have to make it a point to go drinking with chrissy and joe more often, which maybe a little hard considering the whole living in different states deal. It was quite enjoyable. We managed to safely get back on a bus and to the hotel with little over 4 hours before we had get up to leave again. Outside of the alcohol and now extremely red sunburn blotches I had, the trip home was uneventful.
Anyways, I think that is it. Lots of memorable things...but nothing that would really make much sense to anyone else. To understand it would require even more reading time by ya'll and I'm sure you are sick of my horrible writing.
It is 4th of July weekend and NB isn't setting off fireworks. So I guess I will have to go elsewhere. Might head to Lynnea's family shindig. Stay cool, and remember to lather up before going outside, or you'll look like me.

Who's the doofus now?
Horoscope: Fuzzy thinking follows you around like a duckling waddling after its mother. You can be so very clever, but your thoughts just keep turning into mush today. Don't waste energy being too self-judgmental; it won't accomplish anything beneficial. Instead, accept that you cannot push away the fog that's rolled in to your life. It will lift in a day or two and you'll quickly regain the clarity you cannot now find.
hmmm, explains the crazy fuzzy-ness, the forgetting of my desk keys, left over pork for co-workers, and my brain in general.
The weekend turned out well. Hung out at the pampered chef with beckie. Nice chill evening. Saturday I got up early and reserved my honkin' 6.5 lb pork butt at Wegmans. Finished picking up the last of the ingredients and set to work just a little after 12. 5.5 hours later the meat finished up cooking. Then it took me almost a half hour to "pull" all 6.5 pounds of meat. I must say the eating was like victory. It tasted soooo good, if i do say so myself. Now I have a super amount of leftovers and about a quart of my very own homemade bbq sauce. After pigging, haha, out we went out to see Batman Begins with the very super hot Christian Bale. It was awesome!!! I really haven't liked the more recent ones...big fan of the Michael Keaton movies, but this one, I think it beats out the original. I'll echo my bro and say it is a must see. A portion of the film may seem like..dude why do heros always ends up in some crazy tibetan training camp to help them prepare..but it holds true with the original comic story line so not to worry.
Sunday was relax and get together for Father's Day. It was nice.
Just 3 more days of work, except wednesday and thursday are 10 hour days. :oP But I get off Friday, which is happy.
If you want a postcard, make sure I have your address.

For your contemplating pleasure:
My horoscope:
Your self-esteem might suffer now, but these feelings may not be directly related to an overt rejection by someone you like. Instead you could be picking up on subtle uncertainties in others that you turn into negative judgments. If you can examine your own heart and take full responsibility for your emotions, you won't end up feeling like a victim.
Still amazed at how this works sometimes.
*Still haven't gotten a good nights sleep in a week, wake up feeling like someone hit me in the head with a rock. Pampered chef fun, batman??, bbq pulled pork, father's day goodness*

Can't sleep, Can't stay awake
Save yourself.
Because the only thing that matters
is that you get away from the pain
and the thought of losing your mind.
Don't blame yourself.
It was everyone around you who made you act this way.
There's the stage and your chance to watch it go down.
Don't fake yourself into ever, ever thinking about yesterday.
That was then, this is now. Don't call it undone.
Don't take what you've been dealt.
You can exit out the back and make your getaway
before anyone can see the damage you have done.
This time is the last time so be here, here now.
This time is the last time. Somehow make it through.
State your case. You've got everyone's attention.
What can you say? Thanks or forget what you've been given.
Take your place. Do you think that you deserve the best of everything?
We don't get why you're here. Can you figure it out?
This time is the last time so be here, here now.
You've got to get away.
Oh, I get lost in the thought of losing you.
You've got to get away. I know it's a dream but it must be true.
Wave now goodbye. It's the lesson that you've been given.
You can always move on to better things.
This time is the last time so be here, but be here now.
This time is the last time somehow.

100 Degrees In the Shade
Apparently, New Jersey is stuck in what the weather people call a “Bermuda Heat Wave”. Lots of words for— It’s god-damned hot outside!! Supposedly, it may come to an end if the remnants of Tropical Storm Arlene (Arleen?) ever make it here.
Sorry for the random meteorological update, back to our regularly scheduled programming. Friday night was the Hanson concert. We get to the parking lot about a half hour before doors open at 7:30. *My biggest pet peeve ever, right here* Beck and I figure we’ll get on the line around 7:30. We came for the music, not to be smushed like sardines in a can. 7:30 rolls around and the line isn’t moving and it has wrapped around the back of the building and through 2 parked rows of cars. Did I mention the show was sold out? They don’t open the doors until quarter after 8. If the ticket says 7:30, be done with the freakin’ sound check by 7:15, it isn’t that hard is it?!?!?!? Anyways, by the time we got in it was 8:45. Just in time to see the opening band play 3 count them 3 songs. Which I guess is good because I didn’t care for them too much, except for their cover of Hard Days Night, which was pretty good, I’ll give them that. It took another half hour for Hanson to actually come on stage. Show was great. I have to give them that, I may not be a huge fan of the new stuff, but the show was good. But throughout this, Theresa must make friends. Who is it this time but a 40+ year old woman. She asks me to make sure no one takes her spot in the bar area. Oh and if some middle aged guy comes looking for his wife, you can let him stand here. Can we say drunk a little? Well she returns with her drink…Bailey’s with who knows what in it. She proceeds to tell me the other bar ran out of Bailey’s so she needs to be on this side. Her entire family loves Hanson. They went to their first show in Vancouver, her husband, daughter and herself. And they were just in awe. She also shared that she must always be on IKE’s side of the stage. He’s the best. Just a totally amusing exchange. All in all the night was enjoyable. By the time we got outside it was nice and cool, compared to the cooker that is the Starland Ballroom.
Saturday was a party, ie, sit outside for 3 hours in the heat, trying not to stick on launch chairs, and generally try to seem like I’m a coherent human being after a late evening. I believe it was a success. But what do I know about anything.
It seems like I have been tagged so-
List five songs that you are currently digging. It doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they're any good but they must be songs you're really enjoying right now. Post these instructions, the artists, and the five songs in your blog. Then tag five other people to see what they're listening to.
1. Hanson- Get Up and Go
2. Something Corporate- Hurricane
3. Weezer- Beverly Hills
4. Jimmy Eat World- Futures
5. Beatles- A Hard Day’s Night
Ugh at least I’m not sitting at home where everyone else is. For some reason having 3 other people at home just makes me really nutsy and uber tense. So I guess it is a good thing I am out of the house working. Not that I’m super happy about working. Gives me something to do.
Oh- I’m going to try to make some Pulled BBQ pork over the weekend. Watch this be an experiment that goes horribly wrong.

List five songs that you are currently digging. It doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they're any good but they must be songs you're really enjoying right now. Post these instructions, the artists, and the five songs in your blog. Then tag five other people to see what they're listening to.
1. Hanson- Get Up and Go
2. Something Corporate- Hurricane
3. Weezer- Beverly Hills
4. Jimmy Eat World- Futures
5. Beatles- A Hard Day’s Night

Oh- I’m going to try to make some Pulled BBQ pork over the weekend. Watch this be an experiment that goes horribly wrong.
