Danger, Danger, Will Robinson!!

I am forewarning you all right now. This post is going to be SUPER long. I have not written in almost 2 weeks. So I have some fun juicy stuff, or maybe it isn't. Who knows.

I suppose I will start at Christmas Eve. I woke up kinda late (here I really mean an hour later then I usually do) and did a little Disney World packing. I got all prettied up and headed over early to 5 pm mass to listen to my mom sing in the choir. I think this is the first time in a while that I enjoyed mass. The church was all decorated, the seats were packed, (i sat in front of two very, very cute guys), the songs were great, and not to mention the homily was short!!! Afterwards, we trekked out to the Sullivan's house for a party with them, the Slic's and the Picc's, who I haven't seen since the June wedding. Good to see everyone, kinda like old times when we all lived on the same block. Good food, played games, opened gifts, and before we knew it, it was past midnight. We all needed to get back home in time for Santa. Arriving home, we all decide to open up gifts early because of all the packing and laundry that needed to get done the next day. Having fun opening the presents, when at about 1:30 am, we hear this *thwack* sound outside and some car headlights. Thinking it is nothing we all head off to bed, to dream of sugarplums, or mickey mouse, or whatever was in our heads.

Christmas day was relaxing, outside of the running up and down stairs to find things for the trip. But later in the afternoon, I hear from my mom that my car got hit last night. Not to mention that every other car on the block had their windshield wipers lifted up for some bizarre reason. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper, I still don't believe I am okay with it. I treat my car soooo good, only for it to get hit right in front of my house. :oP Anyways, we left later that evening to go have coffee and dessert at my uncle's house. My little cousins are so cute. They kept asking if they could sit with me on the plane. Since there is such a huge age difference myself and my lil cousins (13 years between me and Elena; 16 years between me and Arianna), they inadvertantly call me aunt Theresa instead of cousin Theresa. It makes my one aunt a little angry, but really I don't so much mind, so long as they remember my name.

The next day we all get up at the butt crack of dawn to leave for the airport. The flight was scheduled for 7:20. It was delayed til 9:05. Everyone boards the aircraft, only to have to sit in it for another hour and a half at the gate (it is about 11:30 now). Really can't be flying if there isn't a pilot to fly you. But we finally took off, managing to arrive nearly 4 hours later then we had planned + we had dinner reservations. We make it to the Beach Club with about an hour to spare before dinner. Caught the boat to MGM and had dinner at Hollywood and Vine after which we got super cool seats to see the Fantasmic! show. Now you all probably imagine that we are walking around in shorts, t-shirts, soaking in the sun. WRONG! We sat on those cold aluminum stadium seats, it was just about 35 degrees out and the wind was whipping. I was thanking god (not for my breast like in march) but for the fact that i brought my gloves along with me from home. Not to mention I don't think I could ever imagine the day that I would be buying hot chocolate in Disney World. But the place was packed. The show was fantastic even if you do get sprayed with water for a good majority of it. Fave part that evening was when they lit everything on fire. So warm. Once the show was over, the little ones were tired so they headed back to the room for an early night (it was only like 7 pm). My family walked to the special Osbourne Family Light Spectacular. They aren't kidding when they use the word spectacular. I don't think I've been in awe of christmas lights (outside of how i did the tree this year) until then. Hung all over the street the is a mock set, were hundreds of thousands of dazzling Christmas lights. It is amazing to see of the different things you can do with that many lights. I think i could go on forever about these lights...but how about i just move on.

Monday (27th) we headed out to the Magic Kingdom to have breakfast at the Crystal Palace. There we met/took pictures with Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore. We got ourselves on the Jungle Cruise, which by the way I don't think I've been on for at least 5 years, Pirates of the Caribbean, the Tiki Room, Haunted Mansion, and Buzz LightYear. We all were really suprised because after about 12:30 nearly every ride in the park had wait times longer than a hour. Went back to the hotel for a little while, then headed over to EPCOT to have dinner at Le Cellier in Canada. Can we just say, yum for steaks. After we got prime seating (front row) for the Candlelight Processional in the American pavilion. 50 piece orchestra, 100+ people in the choir and....drum roll, please....Gary Sinise. He read the Christmas story with interludes of hymns and music played by the orchestra. The conductor and the sign-er (a guy was sign-ing the words throughout the show) were both somewhat flamboyant and way over-the-top in their gestures. You could tell Gary was trying not to laugh the whole time, he even put his glasses on to try to hide it. The music was outstanding...they ended with Handel's Messiah. Like WHOA! Once the show was over, Gary walked right past the front row. I waved to him (tee-hee), to which I got a wink, smile, and wave back. Just so you all know, Gary Sinise is short. We could start a club, the Short People Club. Anyways...as we start walking around the rest of the park, my dad asks, "Who the heck was Gary Sinise waving at?" To which my mother replies, "Your daughter." Sigh, my own personal Gary Sinise moment. Okay, back, I swear no more Gary interludes. The little ones went home early, and some of us went back to Magic Kingdom to ride on Space Mountain and Stitch's Great Escape, which was malfunctioning and we couldn't go on.

Tuesday the Little kids went back to the Magic Kingdom and myself, mom and dad, left to go to EPCOT early. We got on Test Track, Mission Space (with Gary...sorry), and Spaceship Earth all before 10 am and the crowds. We also got these great pictures with a bunch of characters, Chip and Dale, Gipetto (???), Meeko, and Timon. Once the World Showcase opened up, we headed to Norway to ride the Maelstrom ride. We literally walked right onto the ride, and had our own private boat. Headed to America to have some early morning chicken strips and funnelcake. Strolled through Italy (it was still a little too early for gelato). But by the time we made our way to the UK it had past my 12 noon requirement for a beer, so dad and I had a Boddington's and Harp and strolled around. We all met up around 1 at Innoventions and we played the wonderful Fire Safety Game. Yes, Fire Safety. Anyways, in honor of Suzer, we walked back towards the UK and watched the British Invasion play a set. For dinner we went to the California Grill. We got to watch the fireworks in the Magic Kingdom from the top of the Contemporary. Everyone else headed home except my fam, cause we went resort hopping to see how each of the other hotels were decorated for the holidays.

Wednesday, my bro and I went to MGM Studios...I'm sorry, they changed the name of the park but I can't bring myself to call it the Disney Studios. BOOO on that. We got fastpasses for Rocking Roller Coaster and since the standby was only 45 minutes, we decided to go on line. The second we did though...the time changed to an hour. So we got off the line and walked to the Great Movie Ride in the meantime. We went back cause the fastpass time was right, and we head up to the front of the line to find that we just cut in front of the people who were standing in front of us before we left for the Great Movie Ride. Oh the hilarity of it all. Last ride we did was Star Tours. Later went to do some shopping and eat, and Thursday we came back home. It felt nice to sleep in my own bed after a while.

Friday was New Year's Eve. Went over to Rusty's house. I was still wiped out from the trip. But I made it to the ball drop, although I didn't sleep the night. Saturday, my father and brother headed out to the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans (which is tonight by the way). Go Hokies. I'm not nearly as mad as now as I was about it. But that's the way things have always been, I try to do everything right that I can, but I still don't the same sort of attention my brother gets. Whatever...I'll explain maybe some other time. Sunday was my cousin's engagement party. Yikes, that was an experience. My mom and I spent the weekend watching movies: Princess Diaries 2, the Stepford Wives, and Garden State (which I bought, I heart that movie).

So here I am, back at work. I managed to get a bunch of things done today, suprisingly enough, this very long entry. Fun Stuff:

Your Dominant Intelligence is Logical-Mathematical Intelligence

You are great at finding patterns and relationships between things.
Always curious about how things work, you love to set up experiments.
You need for the world to make sense - and are good at making sense of it.
You have a head for numbers and math ... and you can solve almost any logic puzzle.

You would make a great scientist, engineer, computer programmer, researcher, accountant, or mathematician.

I probably could have told you that one.

You are 93% Virgo

Masters of the obvious.

You Are Mashed Potato Soda

Like sucking on a stick of butter...

I loooooove mashed potatos. And that I think is more that enough for you to handle.

2005

Happy New Year, everyone!!

Just a quick note....I swear in the very near future I will write all about my Disney vacation and stuff that has happened like:
will my car ever be saved?
why little cousins are so cute
or why does t have a Gary Sinise fetish?

All this and more...forthcoming.

JULY 16th

The appointed day which I will begin reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I had this feeling that she was pretty much done when she started giving out the names of a couple of the chapters.

So many questions I need answered. Well, at least I have about 6 months to re-read the first 5 books to prepare.

Note to self: Try and get a hold of the hard back Bloomsbury versions of the HP. Oh Suzer and Cryssy, I saw that Barnes and Noble has the earlier books in hard cover if you ever want them all separated.

At least I have something to muse about while I work late tonight.

HARRY POTTER 6!!!

Just Read:
Done Manuscript

It makes me so happy. Hopefully by tomorrow, we will know the exact date.

I had soooo much fun this weekend. I visited Suzer and Cryssy and Hester on Saturday. Hester, Suzy, and I went to see the Lemony Snicket movie. It was very very good, considering I haven't read the books....yet. I'm not a super big fan of Jim Carrey, but for once his crazy, wacky weirdness fit seemlessly with the Count Olaf character. The kids were absolutely adorable. We got back and had to say good night to Hester. Poor thing had to work Saturday and Sunday. Boo, for working on the weekends. Then Suzer fulfilled her promise of taking me to the Flying Pig Saloon for a drink. It was horribly cold, but the Saloon was so nice and warm. It reminded me so much of Market Cross. I miss that place terribly. I think I've finally pinpointed my not being totally satisfied with life after school. It lies wholly in the fact that you can no longer rely on being surrounded by those whose company you enjoy the most. It is almost totally out of your control, going back home, finding jobs someplace new, or heading off to a new school. But anyways, we thoroughly enjoyed our beers and then braved the cold weather back to her house. Sunday morning, we breakfasted on some yummy bagels (chocolate chip, yum), and hot chocolate made by Suzer. Before my appointed time of departure, Cryssy, Suzy, and I played some thrilling games of Uno. It is not a code word for like drugs or anything crazy like that. Just the game of Uno- you know red, yellow, blue, and green cards, plus draw two's, reverses, skips, and WILD cards. Then I had to leave. It was all sad, but there will always be more trips. That is for sure.

By the way, it was UBER cold today. Whoever is in charge of the weather needs to do something about that.

Maybe I'll go do some preemptive packing for Disney world...or maybe just some chocolate chip cookies will do.

Monday, Monday....

I thought this was..hmm i don't know:
Sonnets
Shakespeare: Sonnets. Everyone has heard of you,
and almost everybody can find something
touching in you. You are calm and control
yourself, even though your wisdom and your
messages are no lesser than those of others.

Which literature classic are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Funny, I'm not really a fan of Shakespeare. But whatever. I took a look at some of the other results you could get for the quiz. Something struck me as quite interesting. Charles Baudelaire is one of the authors of the literature classics. Funny, that the children of Lemony Snicket have the last name of Baudelaire, since he centers his writing on death and vanity and such. Maybe I just read way to much into things.

More later this evening perhaps.

stream of conscienceness

So yeah, I just have a lot of random stuff going on in my head. If it doesn't make any sense...oh well.

Yesterday, while getting in my car to drive home from work, I got a spider bite. I spent the next hour driving, with a funny heart rhythm, shaking like mad, wanting to throw up like you would not believe, and quite possibly feeling the need to faint right there. I got home, had tea, watched the oc chrismukkah episode (which was a big help) and then went to bed. So i'm thoroughly convinced I need to stay away from venomous insects, cause that is just bad news. All this happened after I talked to a coworker, who told me he couldn't believe that I had shingles, cause I was such a happy seemingly content person at work. To which I had to explain that I get stressed out by everything, even the fact that that morning i couldn't find the right lunch bag to put my microwaveable dinner in. Yeah I'm a wacko. I knew that.

I realize I have inherited all of Athena's (who I work with) crazy people encounters, cause my desk is where hers used to be. You all know about the gentleman who cried. I'm kinda happy that hasn't happened again. But I also got the alcoholic Ecuadorian student, who tries to hit on me. Yeah that wasn't a fun experience. I think that he might have gotten the hint when I just got up out of my desk and left with Athena to get food from the student center. Hopefully he won't be bothering me anymore. I just might have to start making up imaginary boyfriends...but that is a stream for a little later. I also got this other gentlemen, who decides to sit at my desk, and literally yell what he is speaking to me (entertainment news to be exact). He isn't deaf cause I was whispering and he was answering me perfectly fine. But really, I just want to not have crazy people attracted to me. It must just be me. Maybe I should stop showering or something, that should do it right?

Speaking of boys, still don't have one. But Jason, the guy who surfs...he's heading off to australia next semester. Boo. Happy-> the other Jason...he's going to start working as a tutor next semester. He's cute, and funny...and sigh. Then there is...Henry, but I didn't get to talk with him until the past couple of weeks or so. He's going to Pace next semester, pre-med...he has a Beamer. Yeah. Not getting one of those. There is another guy, Joe...he's cute too. Bah on me. I've got to swear them off...or get a toy or something.

OH and I hate drivers. I hate them all. I can't stand holiday drivers. :oP I'm just trying to get to work. Maybe you wouldn't have to go 85 in a 45 zone if YOU LEFT ON TIME!!!! BUGGERS!!!!

I have other things that I'm a little... not to happy about. But I can leave that for another day. It's better when you let things simmer for a while longer. At least I'm going to Suzer/Cryssy/Hester's tomorrow, disney world, and then rusty's for New Years. That should be fun, right?

this time 2 weeks from now...

I'll be living it up in Florida with Mickey Mouse. But I still have 2 more weeks to go.

Saturday morning I took my Math subject GRE. Can we say, that is three hours of my life that I will never get back....EVER! Sixty-six questions, that okay...I had heard of or knew the definitions of the words, but I had no idea what to do. Or worse I had an idea of what do to, but I couldn't get past the first couple of steps. I managed to complete 21 questions, which in my mind, should all be correct. If I am lucky, 6 weeks from I should receive a stupid piece of green paper with a score of 500 on it. I was the only female taking the exam. Not to mention the only girl on the whole side of the room (they sat math and physics together). I took the exam with 3 gentlemen (or what i like to call three guys who haven't showered in about a week).

I'm really kinda down about it. I had been working on stuff for the past two weeks, I suppose it never really sank in at how difficult- no, wait, scratch that, how ill-prepared I was to take it. Dickinson was great, no doubt that if I had gone anywhere else I would not have been able to finish up the double math and physics, but if I had gone to a science/engineering school and just studied math, I would have kicked super booty on it. I guess now I'm just really worried. I hope this doesn't affect my getting in to a good program. I suppose, as long as I can get some super duper recommendations, I should be set. But the test really was a piece of crud.

After the exam, I napped, showered and went to the mall with Beck. Boy, that was totally the wrong idea. We had fun, but seriously, the mall stinks. Gotta try to avoid it at all costs now.

Yesterday, I spent doing laundry, writing cards, and making candilicious goody bags. Other than that I've got nothing. The lab is nuts, with people who haven't studied all semester, and I really have no desire to help them. But oh well, that is what I'm paid to do.

Back to work.

studying my patoo-tee off

You Are an Old Soul

You are an experienced soul who appreciates tradition.
Mellow and wise, you like to be with others but also to be alone.
Down to earth, you are sensible and impatient.
A creature of habit, it takes you a while to warm up to new people.

You hate injustice, and you're very protective of family and friends
A bit demanding, you expect proper behavior from others.
Extremely independent you don't mind living or being alone.
But when you find love, you tend to want marriage right away.

Souls you are most compatible with: Warrior Soul and Visionary Soul

Who knows if that is me or not. Back to studying.
Ugh. Holidays, so happy one day...so bloody crappy the next.

Work was well, little story time. We are only supposed to spend 15 minutes with each student on a problem. One student has me locked up for get this....an hour and a half. Which totally wipes me out for the rest of the day, and makes me the supreme *itch of a learning assistant to all of the other students that come my way. Today had to be the day that I have students just coming non-stop for about 3 hours after that student.

Oh yes, you all thought I wasn't going to be stressed about this test on Saturday morning, HAHAHAHAHAHA. Boy the hell are you wrong. Something has gotta give. Man cause if i don't find a way to channel this nervous tension, i swear i'll get the shingles again. That my friends would not be fun at all. Maybe I just need to be reassured that not matter how crappy I do on this stupid thing, that I will get in to some school, somewhere, thus changing my surroundings and my extremely monotonous routine I now call life.

hmm, i'm mad cause the wb probably won't pick up my fav show Jack and Bobby for the rest of the season. I have yet to do any sort of exercise, so i look and feel like a little tub of lard, creating a small bowl-like indentation in my chair at work. Maybe once i stop worrying about this test, i can start worrying about my flab, and get even more shingles. I love having that brain that over thinks things and causes my body to become deathly ill (i know there really is a name for it, but it's late and my brain can't stay focused on any one thing).

A broken version of myself will be available Saturday afternoon and evening (i'm not going to my office christmas party, and i can't stay home and deal with my parents' little dinner party thingy), so if anyone would like to join me on a possible trip to wander the malls or something else, i could enjoy the company.

Shit, i need to sleep, or else i'll be super cranky tomorrow and that always makes for a good day.

Longbottom's been neglecting his earmuffs.

Wow. It's been quite a while. Here's my cliff note's version of what has been happening.

Well, as we all know Thanksgiving came and past. We went to Pam and Sean's house for the bird dinner. Poor Sean had to leave for work at 5:30. At least he got to have some bird. Food was good, and we didn't have to take home any left overs. Even better. Next day the rest of the fam got up early to bring my brother back to VT. I refrained from the shopping crowds and spent the next 36 hours in peace and quiet(a sorry attempt to try to study).

Sunday, I felt yucky, and decided about mid way through the afternoon to try the mall. I got there, and then felt like I didn't want to buy anything (oh the humanity!!). So I headed back home. I then decided the tree needed to be put up and with in about 2 hours, the tree was up, lighted and ribboned. There still aren't any ornaments on it, I actually like it without the ornaments up, oddly enough.

Work is alright. I think I'm finally getting it down now. Feeling really used to it. That I might just be able to perform other functions later in the day. OH but the best thing, was yesterday. I had this one lab. One student in the midst of quiet in the lab, says to one of his lab partners, "Thank you Messiah of Math!" Okay, I guess it loses some of it's hilarity in the translation. Oh well.

I remember seeing, Finding Neverland within the past couple of weeks. It really was amazing. Johnny Depp = super talented. To go from Captain Jack Sparrow, to playing James Barry (spelling I know...it's late, sue me later) who wrote Peter Pan is freakin' wonderful. You should go see it. My movies of the year are Harry Potter, Garden State, and Finding Neverland. Maybe if I ever see the Incredibles it would be there too, or possible the Lemony Snicket movie. Don't know haven't see them.

I think I have the list for christmas cards all done. I have my family presents all squared away, I think. To my friends- I fear presents may be quite late this year. I know what I want to get everyone, it just will take a lot of time to get my hands on them. So the card will have to do at the moment. If you read this, you better make sure I have your mailing address so I can send you holiday card goodness.

Other than that, 1 week til test, then no stress!!!
