Rainy day....

I realize this is just coming from left-field but here goes nothing. This entirely rainy day has reminded me so much of being at Dickinson. I walked out into the rain to find a small little earthworm. I got whisked back instantly to the major rainfall in Carlisle. Walking in flip-flops, refusing to wear sneakers and socks cause I would just have to spend the next like hour drying them. Trapsing around Morgan field, hopping from open area to open area so as not to crush the massive earthworms who have decided to make the trek across the blacktop. It always made me happy to see them, although there were a couple of occasions where I admit...I did say "eeewww". They were always a sign the spring, the grass, the warmth, and the sun will be coming.

anyways...24 is on. catch ya later.

For Suzy....

The reason for the distraction yesterday was that one of the student tutors came in (And no, this is not the same student i talked about a long time ago...not the rocker/angry music boy). Yes, a good little eye-distraction. He sat at the desk right across the room from me, so I really couldn't help it. He is right in my line of vision when I look up. I feel kinda bad about it...but the boy is cute. Clean, boy next-store look is the best way to describe it. Very kind, a nice sense of humor. Bad side....he's a student tutor. :oP

It's like one of those stupid under the Coke/Pepsi/insert fave drink cap games.
Drink Coke, Play Again.

GRRR!

Trying Tuesday

Last Tuesday night, illness descended upon me. It just got continually worse. Thursday I called out sick. Compared to last year’s green beer before 1 in the afternoon in the UK pavilion at Epcot, it is not the first way I’d think of spending the St. Patty’s day. It was also the start of all the March basketball madness. For about 8 hours that day, CBS kept rotating between games. I was so out of it I couldn’t keep track of what teams were playing on the screen. The saving grace that day was that I managed to get some drugs to get rid of it. I really think my case of the shingles has just made my entire immune system absolutely worthless. It doesn’t help that the building I work in isn’t exactly up to building specs. (But that is what you get when you decide to change a huge barn into a teaching space.)

Anyways, fast forward to this today. It’s just one of those Tuesdays that won’t quit. Just moving so slowly and there really is nothing that you can do about it. Even helping people figure things out doesn’t make the situation better. I’ve slowly been realizing that this stuff, this whole being an adult business isn’t nearly as glamorous as it seems when you are like 5-6 years old. And this is what life holds in store for me, for what will probably be the next 60 years (+ or - 10 years of error). Yeah I realize it’s probably something that has hit everyone already, but I’m slow when it comes to life-affecting epiphanies.

I’m spending Easter and a couple more days all by myself. With the ‘rents going to see my brother, I’ll be on my own with the dog. Lots of fun. Crazy me got excited cause I planned out a whole bunch of home cooked meals for me to make. My parents laughed at me. Silly I know, but I never seem to have the energy to do any sort of cooking when I get back from work. It’s a big deal for me to actually be providing for my own nutritional value. Really, I’ll probably just end up having bagels for every meal cause I’m lazy.

Oh, I attempted to start my grad school applications. Stupid schools want you to fill out online apps. Yeah problem is I need to wait another like 3 months. Just throw the whole starting early bit right out the window. They won’t let you apply for fall 2006 until they’ve closed the app process for summer 2006. :::shakes fist angrily::: bass-turds!!!!

Not that anyone cares…Duke made it to the Sweet 16 but I think this is going to be where the run ends. I’m a super big fan, but it just seems like they are scraping through the games. No confidence to be found. Haven’t handed anyone a butt-thumping loss. ah well.

I’m slowly getting more excited about visiting Dickinson in week and a half. It’ll be a weekend where I may be able to actually relax a little bit. A throw back to a year ago, unwind a little bit, enjoy some time with the boys, maybe meet up with my infernos. I would like to see if I could stop by and see the math and physics profs as well.

randomness: I’ve figured out that I need to find someone who has common sense. That would compliment really well with the fact that I have none. Everything else should probably be secondary to that need. I just shouldn’t be picky anymore. It might just help matters if I actually went out every now and again.

I’m getting really distracted (yes there is a reason why…but I’ll write it later), so I think that is my cue to end.

Start of Spring Break...

yeah right, I happen to be working. Tell me whose swift idea it was for the lab to be open when there are no classes, the instructors aren't in, and sure as heck none of the students want to come in. Boo!!! As a side note, i really don't feel well today, I haven't felt well since Saturday (like hi stomach, what are you doing in my throat? You really shouldn't be there. Or the fact that my muscles can't seem to relax for longer than 5 minutes before I have to re-adjust the way i'm sitting/standing/laying/etc). I should probably get it this whole situation checked out. It just throws me for a loop every single month, if you catch my drift.

Random girl pain and agony aside, the weekend was super enjoyable. Suz came down on Saturday in the afternoon. Kona was super excited to see her and boy did he get the good end of the deal. He was so good, calm, and just sat there being petted. Silly puppy. Suz was so good putting up with me and my wanting to watch the Duke/ NC State game. I'm such a push over when it comes to watching my college basketball. Afterwards, we headed over to the Fox and Hound for some eats and good beer. Our waiter was mildly interesting. For some reason he didn't believe we could handle drinking our beer and eating our meals on our own without him checking up on us. We chatted it up. I miss being able to sit face to face and just talk about parents, stupid school/job, boys, and general gossip. Suz- I know that whatever you do (moving to new areas and such), you'll without a doubt be able to find a circle or group of people to hang with. (I trust you will be able to better than I will) Besides, I'll always come to visit. oh, i'm not trying to think about that thing you gave me to think about. But you know me, my brain has it going on there in the background. Just have to let the fun ensue right? Getting back from the bar, we decided to watch Newsies. Such a great movie.

Sunday we headed down to see Dana and Abby. It was so good to see Bubbles. Suz got to meet Chloe. It was absolutely marvelous that it was bright, sunny, warmer than usual, and not to windy. So we took a walk to the Broadway Grille for some lunch. Yum Yum. We headed over to the beach, just to take in the sight, and then found some yummy ice cream. Half the housie- crew. It felt so comfortable. Almost like home, even if it was for just a couple of hours. Sometimes I just wish, that it would be possible for everyone I cared about to be in a close proximity and still be able to explore and find everything they could possibly want or imagine. But my head knows, with sickeningly mathematical precision, that that wish won't happen. Just too old fashioned I guess. Best right now are little visits and trips, I suppose until we all figure where it is we want to go in life, and what it is we want to do. Anyways, after all that it was time to part. When suz left my house, Kona just kinda sat looking out the door. He was kinda sad the rest of the evening, and that made two of us.

But on the bright side, I'm very happy that my Dukies (cause they are no one else's) have a number 1 seed in the tourney, although I'm not quite sure they deserved it. Too many teams could be in their place. But I've been surprised all season at the hard work and tough games they've put in. All the craziness starts this Thursday. So lots of games to watch.

~~love~~

random

I could have died this morning. But i didn't, you'll be happy to know. Not even a quarter of an inch of ice on the roads can keep me from work. Not to mention it is freakin' cold out.

Speaking of dieing- I found out that my birthday is the tenth most deadliest day of the year. I suppose that I shouldn't go inviting lots of people to my house for a drinking party on my birthday, should I? Would I then be considered an accessory in death?

This June...I was able to finagle my way into take vacation days...and can you guess where I'm going? I swear you won't guess. I'm sure you'll ne...Disney World. I guess I'm a little too predictable. I can't help myself. I'm really excited. But you all know me and disney.

Suzer is coming in like 3 days. Hurray. I have no ideas for activities. I guess if it is still cold out, we could try to go ice-skating in the park. The mall isn't super exciting. I would say go walk around New Brunswick...but i dn't know what there is to do in NB. Guess maybe hitting Blockbuster is a good bet. Then going to see Dana on Sunday. I haven't seen her in a while. I'm such a doofus cause I work like 20 minutes away.

I'm really psyched for this though. Mark your calendars...April 1st (yes I realize it's April Fools) I am going to Dickinson to meet up with all the boys...and Suzy too. I have been going through hug and market cross withdrawal. Be there til Sunday. So much fun awaits.

Catch you cool cats later!!

No unbeatens left!!!!

Yeah i just posted....but this OSU-Illinois game was absolutely miraculous. A 3-pointer with 5.1 seconds left to give the Buckeyes a one point 65-64 lead.

I love me some ncaa bball.

it's getting to be that time of year....

March Madness!!! Yeah, it's championship time. That means loads of nitty-gritty, crazy downtown, and last minute buzzer beaters. It also gives me bunches of reasons for me to stay home all night. Not that I should.

Last Friday beck, josh, and steve met up with me at the fox and hound. It was pretty chill. Not the college crowd. More the early 20s to early 30s crowd. Felt good.

Saturday suzer is coming to visit. hurray. only thing i've come up with is going to fox and hound with her. i don't know if there are any good movies out. i can't think of anything else that is cool to do around here. also need to talk to dana about going for lunch on sunday.

I think I need to change my daily routine-ness. Lately I haven't done any sort of pilates. i know it is taking a toll for the pure and simple fact that my headaches (back of the neck, base of my head) have suddenly returned with a vengeance. I've found that the pilates cause me to stretch everything out. I need to get up earlier do the pilates and then get ready for work.

Now it's just a matter of making sure I do that.

my love to all

Crikey!!!

Holy sh*t!!!! I can't believe it. I saw Mackus at Blockbuster. Okay you all probably have no idea who I'm talking about. Anyways, Mackus is this guy who ran on my high school cross country and track teams. I haven't seen this kid in 5 years. 5 years!!! And you wouldn't believe it, I recognized him like that :::snaps fingers:::. He looks exactly like himself, same crazy hair, same chill sort of voice, and the sense of craziness that could happen was all still there. He's a junior finishin' up college at rutgers from what I gathered. But jeez, i'd never imagine seeing him working in Blockbuster....no wait that does kinda fit. He's crazy chill with all the movies and movie lines.

But sheesh, I'm still kinda in shock. This is someone who i literally spent 1.5 to 2 hours a day with for like 2 years. It gets me just this close to wanting to find everyone else on the team. We just all had so much fun. It is also kinda sad that I haven't seen very many of these people in a while. :oP on me.

We went to the bar and grille for some eats today. Was really nice. I think Suz will like it. It's got the sports bar thing going on, but it seemed really chill but who knows what the heck happens when the party gets started after dinner. Maybe I can rope steve or beck to go with me one friday or saturday night just to scope things out. The food was good, and they had a decent selection of beer. That is always a must.

Oh yeah, I can't forget that I talked to giesey for like 2 hours on friday over im. It was good to talk to him even if it was sporadic cause i had students every 20 minutes or so. i miss all those guys and going to market cross (this bar and grille is kinda like market cross only on a bigger scale i think), not to mention giesey had to make it worse by saying he will finally pick up his world tour t-shirt. :oP Anyways i'll hopefully be able to get up to Dickinson to visit them for a weekend. giesey is checkin' it all out. maybe get my hands on a bed and not the futon. but whatever.

sigh...i need something to do with my life...until then catch ya later.

wow

holy moly. Everyone has left so many entries. I've been so quiet lately. I can't believe February is done with (well almost). The past week or so i've managed to get all of my taxes done. Scarily, it wasn't all that intimidating. But maybe that is just the crazy math person talkin'.

I spent the past weekend up in the Poconos with 12 other family members. It was so much fun. Friday we ate dinner, went to the horseraces, then did kareoke. Yes I did sing. Saturday, ate some more, did yoga-lates, went to the hot tub, ate more dinner. One of the wait staff saw the kareoke-ing and went out of his way to talk to me about it. Tee-hee. After dinner we went to the music review show. Lots o' fun. Sunday, ate more, i spent the afternoon taking a walk around the resort, then played some serious wallyball (my team got second place and a medal in the contest). More dinner, yummy lobster, played scattergories. You've never played scattergories until you've played it against 10 other teams with 15+ people on a team. At which point it started to snow. Monday, we had breakfast, did some car cleaning, and then went back to eat at the smorgasborg. So all in all....i ate a lot (thank goodness i brought the new jeans with me.), and i drank a lot.

The big news though is that I will no longer be the low man on the totem pole at work. we're hiring a new learning assistant. opens up a lot of possibilities-> like me not having to work any nights, or having a normal work schedule or something fun like that.

I think I might try out this bar and grille over by the mall this weekend. lonely drinking is soooo much fun.

catch yall later.

First friday of lent

Yeah I didn't realize that Lent had started on Wednesday. I don't plan on giving anything up. Although I could be really abstract by trying to give up on my inner thoughts which continually cut me down and try to keep a happy countenance for the next month or so. For some reason though, it seems like the abstaining from meat and fasting shouldn't be hard. (realize I'm saying this at 12:12 pm in the afternoon and I haven't eaten lunch yet.) It's odd because I don't see myself as a "religious" person. I'm not one of those crazy god people if you know what i mean. Sheesh, how could i be, cause i swear up a blue-streak. Even beck said it herself one evening that I was religious...somewhat really religious (cause I still really do the church thing, follow church practices, and such). Not that it's a bad thing. But I fight with Catholicism all the time. Not really, just the ideas. I think I use the going to church and such as my own spiritual outlet. I just mix a whole lot of different teachings with my base religion as well as with my own experiences. I don't know if that makes me religious or spiritual or what. But for some reason I always feel like it puts me at odds with people (not yous guys, but everyone else). But that i think is a story for some other time, who knows.

Anyways, sorry about the ramble there. This weekend, it looks like it is just me myself and the Kona dog. I will sit back and reflect upon valentine's past....wait, just wait one second. If I remember correctly, I have never had a valentine on valentine's day. Good thing this year I'm not breaking my record. I'm 0-22 on V-day, tee-hee. Sheesh, the band should be playing, and the cheerleaders cheering for that record.

But really the reason for this post...I found a really old cd a couple of days ago, and this song just hit me.

Ready or Not by Evan and Jaron:
There was nothing down in my little town
No one I could be
Nobody there in the empty square
Soon to include me
So I borrowed myself a stolen van
And I got myself to where I am

I made my escape while no one watched
And inside my head I had just one thought
It was freedom that I wanted
Freedom that I got
Ready or not

It's another world that I find me in
I think someone stole the van
And the people here are like aliens
And I don't know what I am
And the pretty pretty girls I thought I could trust
Have taken everything but my bad luck

Now I'm not so bad and I'm not so hot
I said I don't care but I cared a lot
It was changes that I wanted
Changes that I got
Ready or not

Now I'm not so radical as I thought
I said I don't care but I cared a lot
It was freedom that I wanted
Freedom that I got
Ready or not

catch yall later. (oh and for the record i broke down and got a tuna fish sandwich for lunch :oP)
